Going Back to the Source

We are so grateful to our community for holding space for the Columbia River, for admiring her, for remembering her beauty and power, for caring for her. We took the water you blessed to three of the Great River’s sources. We asked that your prayers and intentions would be carried through the entire course of the river system Here are a few photos.
The first source was at the inlet of Redfish Lake in the
Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. It was at the creek where thousands of salmon once
came only fifty years ago. Now it numbers in the hundreds. Once in the 1980s
only one fish came back to spawn. So there is some hope in the midst of such
loss.

The second source was the Wood River which heads from the mountains of Idaho into the Snake River Plain, after meandering through Magic Reservoir. A beautiful lively waterway. And still full of bird life and troutlings.

The third source was the headwaters of the Salmon River below Galena Summit in Idaho. A mighty river beginning in a beautiful valley, still green for summer rains. This was a magical place, where the waters sing sweetly.

Thank you again. I encourage you to go the Columbia and
thank her and then feel how your prayers make a difference in both the levels of awareness
and for the simple recognition that the River is a living reflection of our
living Earth.
Next we go to the Snake River in Idaho and then to the very beginning of the Columbia in Canada. Stay tuned.
